After one year of conducting the ‘Chitra Varsha’ – 104 shows on Saturday and Sunday with the help of Suchitra Film Society – the new platform for the offbeat films to get theatres for screening, Chitra Samooha that is doing wonder has shifted the further proceedings to KV Subbanna Ranga Mandira. It was a valedictory of the ‘Chitra Varsha’ and ‘Chitra Samooha’ felicitation to the national and state film award winners on Saturday evening after the screening of ‘Bettada Jeeva’.

Even though there is reduction in audience the reduction is not seen in winning awards. There is no dearth for creativity and new crops. Four winners at the state level are first time directors. Hrudaya for offbeat and Hana for commercial films are needed. Chitra Varsha was to celebrate with the quality films and audience. The first quarter of it was excellent and there was gradual down fall in the audience accepted Dr Girish Kasaravalli.

This alternative arrangement for quality films to reach the audience like in western countries should go on forever. We have sought for the government help to allocate a theatre for offbeat films. It has not yet been approved.

In his address Dr Girish Kasaravalli felt very unhappy for the demise of his good friend ace cameraman S Ramachandra.

On behalf of the national award winners Manu Chakravarthy stated that cinema is also in the framework of our culture. Such cultural dosed films are what I am seriously looking in my angle rather deeply he mentioned in his short address.
